Save Old Farm Park

The Save Old Farm Park group was set up to oppose Bexley Council’s plans to sell of the eastern half of the park for ‘development’, as part of a suite of land sales designed to bring in money and save on maintenance costs as part of its budget cuts programme.

In autumn 2015, and despite an overwhelming ‘No’ to a further public consultation on selling this land, the Council still seems to be proceeding with the plan to dispose of it.

Part of the site that would be lost was recommended for inclusion in the Sidcup rail linesides Site of Importance for Nature Conservation, and was planted with trees with the support of the Council relatively recently. The review has been gathering virtual dust for nearly 2 years and there is still no date set for sign-off.

SOFP has publicly stated its intention to form a formal Friends Group at some stage, and is interested in further improving the site for wildlife.
