Danson Park

The Friends of the Shuttle group (see http://www.bexleywildlife.org/friends-of-the-river-shuttle-bexley/) , having led two very successful and well-attended Danson lake clean-up operations with volunteers in summer 2014 and early 2015, has expanded its operations and is now running Danson Park events on a frequent basis, including more clean-ups and wildlife walks here. Danson Lake drains into the River Shuttle in Bexley Park Woods. FotS has also set up a gardening group to manage the pollinator-friendly flower beds in the Old English Garden, which the Council would have otherwise grassed over due to budget cuts. See this website’s calendar page for more details of all these activities.

FotS has a website covering the full range of its activities at:

a Facebook presence at:

and an Old English Garden page at:

Keep an eye on our Calendar page for events.

A very well attended volunteer effort to clean up in and around Danson Lake in June 2014 shows the potential for a group in the park focussed on wildlife and environmental matters.

There is a Friends of Danson Park heritage/discussion group. This hosts a few talks throughout the year, very occasionally dealing with environmental matters. It does not organise or do any hands-on conservation work or run wildlife events in the park. It has no web presence.
