    Thanks Brenda and Ralph for another splendid walk. The flaming red tree which attracted our attention near the car park was probably a claret ash – fraxinus angustifoilia ssp oxycarpa “Raywood”. According to my Collins tree guide, bred in Australia , introduced here 1925, and now popular as a park and street tree for its breathtaking autumn colours.

    No sparrows , starlings or blackbirds ? They were everywhere deades ago .
